Know your skin: the basis for better choices

byNUT GUIDE · 02

Know your skin.

Before asking yourself what product you need, understand how your skin tends to behave. Not to categorize it, but to have a better starting point.

More discernment. Less noise.

01

Your skin type is a starting point

It describes how your skin usually tends to behave. It doesn't explain everything that happens to it on its own.

DRYUsually produces less sebum and may feel tight, rough, or prone to flaking.
OILYUsually presents with more sebum and shine and, in some people, a greater tendency to congestion.
COMBINATIONCombines areas with more sebum —usually the T-zone— with other more normal or dry areas.
NORMAL / BALANCEDDoes not usually present a marked excess of oiliness or dryness.
In short: skin type describes a tendency. The condition describes what is happening now.
02

How to recognize your tendency?

Observe it during a stable period, not right after a reaction or a sudden change in routine.

01Do you often feel tightness?
02Where does shine appear?
03How do your cheeks behave?
04Is congestion common?

Look for patterns, not a snapshot of a single day.

03

Skin type is not the same as skin condition

This difference avoids many wrong decisions.

TYPE = TENDENCYYour skin may tend to be dry, oily, combination, or balanced.
CONDITION = NOWIt may be dehydrated, sensitized, irritated, or going through an outbreak even if its underlying tendency is different.
Oily skin can be dehydrated. Dry skin can have pimples. One does not invalidate the other.
04

And sensitivity?

It can appear in skins with different tendencies and it is also important to assess whether it is persistent or a recent change.

STINGINGITCHINGREDNESSREACTIVITYTIGHTNESS

If your skin reacts easily, this information is important when choosing formulas, textures, and frequency. If the reaction is new, intense, or persistent, do not try to explain it only with a cosmetic label.

05

Your skin can change

Age, climate, environment, hormones, medication, habits, and routine can modify how it behaves.

DON'T MARRY A LABELJust because your skin was very oily years ago doesn't mean it needs exactly the same today.
REVIEW THE CONTEXTObserve whether the change is temporary or has become your new usual tendency.
06

Before choosing, gather the clues

You don't need an endless test. You need useful information.

1Where does shine usually appear?
2Do I frequently experience tightness or flaking?
3Does my skin usually react easily?
4Is this normal or has it appeared recently?
5Has anything changed in my routine or context?
NUT can help you organize these clues.

First we understand your starting point. Then we see what your skin needs now.

Knowing your skin is not about labeling it. It's about learning how it behaves.
